H.O.M.E. is here to serve those whom we call our friends that are unsheltered or displaced. Our goal is to assist them in ‘bridging the gap’ between the streets to a home and to love without judgement.
Proverbs 31: 8-9 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Our volunteers work with our friends on a one - on - one basis. It is our belief that each person is unique and each plan to 'bridge the gap' is designed to meet his or her individual needs.
Since inception, HOME has developed several resource programs such as our Work A Day - Pay A Day Program, Prosperity Point, and the Haven. Also, HOME has developed an extensive list of resources available to those in need.
HOME serve's the community by being a first call resource for 911, St Thomas Ascension, and other area organizations. This is achieved by the generosity of HOME volunteers who generously gives of his or her time to benefit those in need.
Our first mission is to provide love and home to our friends who are displaced, homeless and unsheltered. After that, a multitude of services are offered in the form of food in care packages, hot meals, job resources, and transportation.
During inclement weather, we provide coats, blankets, and shelter.
Through the goodness of First United Methodist Church, the volunteers of HOME are able to provide the opportunity for our friends to shower. While there, they can obtain, toiletries, clean clothing, food, love and encouragement.
Everyone is welcome to join us in our mission of assisting those who are less fortunate and unsheltered right here in our very own community. There is no gift too small and nothing goes unnoticed. We, here at HOME, are so thankful to live amongst a community of givers who assist us in this labor of love, and there is always room for more!
